Privacy policy

This guide is built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no forms and no newsletter, and nothing that tracks you is loaded unless you say yes. This page lists everything that does happen when you read it.

Who is responsible

The publisher named in the legal notice is responsible for this site and for the data described here. You can write to the address given there about anything on this page.

What happens when you read a page

  • Server logs. Like every website, the host (Cloudflare, Inc., through Cloudflare Pages) receives technical data when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the page, the time, your browser and device type. They are used to deliver the page and to keep the service secure, and are kept for a short period under the host’s own policy. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
  • Fonts and images are served from this site’s own domain. No request goes to Google Fonts or to another image service when you read a page.

Analytics, only if you accept

If you accept in the cookie banner, the site loads Google Analytics to count which pages are read. Nothing from Google is loaded before you answer, IP addresses are anonymised, and advertising features are switched off. If you refuse, nothing is loaded and nothing is stored except your answer. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Details are on the cookies page.

The Google map, only if you ask

The map page shows a Google map of the Basilica only after you press the button. When you do, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy.

Some links lead to Viator or the Basilica’s official ticket shop. This site does not pass them any personal data. Once you are on their site, their own privacy and cookie policies apply; an affiliate link may let them record that you came from here.

What we do not do

We do not sell or share personal data, run advertising, build profiles or ask you to register. If you write to us by email, we use your message only to answer it and do not keep it longer than needed.

Transfers outside Europe

Cloudflare and Google are based in the United States. Both take part in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, object to its use, or withdraw consent, by writing to the address in the legal notice. You can also complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live.
